Alcohol Ink Brilliant Wings Thank You Card

Thank you for visiting my blog! And thanks to those of you voted, placing my card #1 in Kylie Bertucci's May International Blog Highlights!! Woohoo! I am pretty excited about that!! I now get to participate in Kylie's Top Ten Winners Hop again. It is such an honour to be part of a group of amazingly talented designers from all over the world. If you haven't seen my "Top Ten" card, it is posted at the bottom of this blog entry.

This time, I decided to give the Stampin' Blends alcohol ink technique a try. I've admired so many cards made with this method. My card was really quick and easy to make. I started with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece our our Vellum Cardstock. I used our Stampin' Blends and scribbled blotches of Highland Heather, Magenta Madness, and Misty Moonlight so that most of the vellum was coloured (with some spaces between). I poured a bit of 99% alcohol into a small dish and used the widest Water Painter to add dabs of alcohol to the paper, which caused the inks to blend. Then I flicked the Water Painter to add small drops of alcohol, which gave a cool marbling effect to the background. The vellum piece needs to dry thoroughly before the next step.

Once the vellum was dry, I adhered it to an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4") Highland Heather card base with tiny pieces of Seal+ (which don't show through the vellum). It's quite amazing how different the look is, depending on the colour of the cardstock below the vellum! The sentiment was stamped onto Basic White cardstock with Misty Moonlight, and then cut with a Tasteful Labels die. The larger Misty Moonlight label was cut with another die from the same set. The white label was glued to the Misty Moonlight label, a 6" folded piece of 3/8" Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon was added to the back with Mini Glue Dots, and the finished label was adhered to the card front with Dimensionals. I die cut a butterfly from Gorgeous Grape cardstock with our Brilliant Wings dies, glued just the body to the card, and added three Rhinestone Basic Jewels to complete the card.

Here is my card that was voted #1 in Kylie's International Highlights Blog.

Expressions in Ink--New Annual Catalogue!!

Hello! Thank you very much for visiting my blog, and welcome to the May edition of our West Coast Creators Blog Hop! We are celebrating the release of our brand new Annual Catalogue and featuring new stamps, dies, colours, and paper in this month's blog! Woohoo!! You'll see a link to a pdf of the new catalogue in the right sidebar of my blog. Have a peek at our amazing products!!

You may know that I love watercolour backgrounds, images, and elements in cards. My blog header is probably a giveaway of that! 😉 And I've just started dabbling in using alcohol inks. I am super-excited about The Expressions in Ink Suite!!! All parts of the suite are beautiful, and I decided to use three of the products in my card.

This card was really quick to make, and I love how it turned out! The Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper (DSP) is absolutely GORGEOUS!! I've added a photo of it at the bottom of this blog post. You could just cut a piece of the DSP and glue it to a card front and you'd have a beautiful card! I used a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of the white and green watercolour DSP, adhered it to a 5-3/8" x 4-1/8" Gold Foil mat, and attached that to a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4") Shaded Spruce card base.

The gold foil flower/leaf motif was diecut with one of the Artistic Dies, and glued to the DSP layer. I used Shaded Spruce to stamp the sentiment (from the Artistically Inked stamp set) directly onto the DSP, then added three Genial Gems to complete the card.

The stamps in Artistically Inked are Distinktive, which means they create different opacities of ink in a single stamped image--they're pretty impressive! I used the large watercolour splat image, and Shaded Spruce to stamp the card inset. Look at the different depths of colour one stamp creates! Below is a photo of the amazingly beautiful DSP.

Thanks again for stopping by! Please leave a comment below, if you have a moment. Then be sure to hop along to all of the blog stops--you'll see some stunning projects created by our talented team members!!

Blog Hop Touches of Ink May 2021

Welcome to the May Touches of Ink Blog Hop!! This month we are featuring the Sweet Strawberry Bundle (Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Strawberry Builder Punch), which is perfect for us at this time of year! You have probably just come from seeing Petra Masukowitz's beautiful creation (Petma-Kreativ)!

The Sweet Strawberry stamp set just makes me feel like summer will be here soon! Since the Berry Blessings  Designer Series Paper (DSP) is no longer available, I made my own DSP. On a 5" x 4" piece of Basic White cardstock, I randomly stamped the outlines and fill colours of the strawberries, leaves, and flowers in Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and Petal Pink. Then I cut the paper into two 2-1/2" x 4" pieces. I adhered these to the two front panels of the card base—an 11" x 4-1/4" piece of Melon Mambo cardstock, scored at 5-1/2" and 2-3/4".

I cut a 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Granny Apple Green from the Brights 6" x 6" DSP, and used one of the Scalloped Contours Dies to cut the scalloped edge. I did the same with a 1-5/8" x 4" Melon Mambo piece from the same package of DSP, which I then glued to the right edge of the inside of the card. The Granny Apple Green piece was glued to the bottom of the card front, over my DSP.

The sentiment was stamped in Melon Mambo on Basic White, and then diecut with a Stitched So Sweetly Die. I added Dimensionals to the back of the label, and then adhered it to the right edge of the scalloped Melon Mambo DSP. This acts as a stopper to hold the right edge of the card, to keep it open when it stands up! How cool is that??

I glued a 3-5/8" x 4" piece of Basic White cardstock to the inside left of the card, and then stamped it with Granny Apple Green. I filled in the flowers with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends, and the leaves with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. I added several Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the flower centres on the front of the card.
