Another Penguin Place Thank You Card

Thank you for visiting my blog! And thanks for your votes, which placed me into the Top Ten Winners of Kylie Bertucci's September International Blog Highlights!! Woohoo! I now get to participate in Kylie's Top Ten Winners Hop again. It is an honour to be part of a group of tremendously talented designers from all over the world. If you haven't seen my "Top Ten" card, it is posted at the bottom of this blog entry.

Well, this is something new for me, and it was a little tricky. I wanted to have my penguin appear to slide down the slope. I was finally able to get something that worked, and I was pretty excited when it did!! The penguin slides down the hill when you open the right side of the card, which you can see in the video. It's just 9 seconds long--I hope that you like the card!!

I used the Penguin Place bundle, and the adorable FREE Sale-a-Bration Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper (DSP). If you live in Canada, you can get the DSP (or your choice of a different package of paper or a stamp set) for free with a purchase of $60 (before taxes and shipping). But don't wait long--our Sale-a-Bration promotion ends on September 30, so you have only a few more days!! If you live in Canada and don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please contact me--I'd love to be your demonstrator!

The DSP really does most of the work in this card! You can see penguins, foxes, and bears having fun in the snow on the paper at the bottom of the card. The trees on the second DSP makes a nice background.

Our sliding penguin is stamped several times, using the Stamparatus to get a nice, solid black, and then I fussy cut him. I made a slider by punching out two 1/2" pieces of flat, clear plastic, and several 1/4" pieces, and then I layered them with glue dots, put them in a slot with the larger pieces above and below the layer, and attached that to a clear elastic. The penguin was adhered to the slider with a glue dot, and the other end of the elastic was glued to the back of the right edge of the card, pulling it taut, with the penguin placed at the top of the hill. When the card is unfolded, the elastic pulls the penguin down the hill.

If you've read my blog before, you might remember that I wasn't too excited about the Penguin Place stamp set when I first saw it. I can be so wrong! 🙄 Now I am making plenty of penguin cards, and having fun doing so! They are just so darn cute!! Check out my September 6 and August 14 blog entries for two more penguin cards!

Here is the package of paper that you can get for free (value $15.75 CDN)--but just until September 30!! Please check out my August 14th blog entry for another card made with this DSP. If you do not have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and live in Canada, I would love to be your demonstrator! Shop here! 😊

Here is my card (see my September 6 blog) that was voted into the Top Ten Winners in Kylie's International Highlights Blog.

Penguin Place Thank You Card

Hello! Thank you for visiting my blog! I have entered my card in Kylie Bertucci's September International Highlights contest. If you like it, I hope that you will vote for itPlease click on the button below to go to Kylie's blog, and vote by clicking on the top right corner of the thumbnail of my card (#8), until you see the heart turn red. Thank you for your support!

The Penguin Place Bundle makes such stinkin' cute cards!! As I mentioned in my last blog post, I wasn't initially super-excited with this bundle, but now that I've played with it a bit, I LOVE it!! I've seen a lot of great cards made with it, too! This card is a variation of one that I made recently for a team swap. I used the Penguin Place stamp set and the Penguin Builder Punch to make my card.

What's really exciting is that you can get this bundle (or one of 11 other choices) for FREE when you purchase a Starter Kit and join my team, until the end of September--click here for more details!! And, during Sale-a-Bration, with a $60 purchase, you can earn some coordinating paper (or choose from several other products) for FREE!! Check out the super-cute Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper (DSP) at the end of this blog entry.

For this card, I started with a 4-13/16" x 5-1/16" piece of Shimmery White Cardstock. I cut three Post-it notes to represent the hills, stuck them to the Shimmery White piece, and used a sponge dauber to add some Pool Party ink above each hill, adding some Flirty Flamingo for the sunset (this is inspired by Australia’s Mandy Witherby, and a card of hers that I saw a couple of years ago). Next, I completed the sky by adding more Pool Party with a Blending Brush, and removed the Post-it notes.

I then stamped some Evening Evergreen trees--a few at full strength, and some stamped off. I used the Post-it notes to mask parts of the snow banks.

The sliding penguin was stamped in Memento black and Mango Melody (a Stamparatus is handy to get a really strong black). I cut him out, and adhered him to the hill with Dimensionals. The other penguin is punched (from Basic White, Basic Black, and Mango Melody) with the Penguin Builder Punch, and the eyes and beak are stamped.

A 12" length of the Sheer Pool Party Ribbon was wrapped around the card front, and tied into a knot. This layer was adhered to a 4" x 5-1/4" Basic Black layer, and then to an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4") Pool Party card base. I stamped the sentiment in Pool Party, added it with Dimensionals, and three Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to finish the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by--and for voting!!! If you like my card, please click here--then please remember to click on the top right corner of the thumbnail of my card (#8) until the heart turns red--that way you know that your vote is registered:
