Awash in Beauty Thank You Card

Hello, and thanks for visiting my blog! And thank you VERY much for voting for my card--it tied for seventh place in Kylie Bertucci's December International Blog Highlights competition!! I am so happy to be invited to participate in the Top Ten Winners' Hop again! (I am posting my Top Ten card at the bottom of this blog entry, in case you didn't see it.)

Awash in Beauty Thank You Card

I hadn't used my Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper (DSP) in a while, and decided to use it for a team meeting Mystery Challenge. This paper is gorgeous!

I hadn't made this type of fun-fold card before. It was a quick card to make, and the variety of papers in the pack made it really easy. Of course, being Stampin' Up! products, everything was coordinated!

Here is the card I submitted for this month's contest. Thanks again for voting it into first place! To see more photos and directions for the card below, click here.

If you live in Canada 🇨🇦 and don't presently have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I'd love to help you out! Shopping links are below.

Oceanfront Simple Stamping Card

Welcome to our December Coast to Coast Creators Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Simple Stamping! True Simple Stamping means that you make a card using only stamps, ink, and paper--no die cutting, embossing, or using any printed paper, tools, or embellishments. My first card, below, meets these requirements.

For this blog hop, however, we could also add one of the following: Designer Series Paper (DSP), an embellishment, or a piece of ribbon. I chose to use some Pretty Prints DSP in my second version, below. Which version do you prefer?

I used our Oceanfront stamp set to create this card, which I think is the ultimate "simple stamping" stamp set. You will see many versions of this card on social media sites. It's a really popular stamp set!

Since this card was made using just stamps, ink, and paper, it was pretty quick to make! There is an option to add a darker ink to the top of the water and sand before stamping (which is also really quick), if desired. Full directions and shopping links are listed below.

It's kind of hard to see in the photo, but the Shimmery White
Cardstock gives the ocean scene some lovely sparkle.

Full Directions for My Joyful Flurry Catty CASE Card:
  1. Cut the following layers:
    • Bermuda Bay (or Basic Black) cardstock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"--score at 4-1/4"
    • Shimmery White Cardstock: 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" (stamp sentiment--from Paradise Palms stamp set--in Tuxedo Black Memento ink)
    • Basic Black cardstock: 3-1/2" x 4-3/4"
    • Pretty Prints DSP: 4" x 5-1/4" (optional)
  2. Stamp sky in Balmy Blue.
  3. *Stamp water in Pool Party, slightly overlapping the sky.
  4. *Stamp sand in Sahara Sand, slightly overlapping the water. Add some texture using the texture stamp.
  5. Stamp the birds (from Mountain Air) with Basic Gray.
  6. Stamp the taller grass with Mossy Meadow.
  7. Stamp the shorter grass with stamped-off (second generation) Mossy Meadow.
  8. Adhere Shimmery White layer to Basic Black layer, then to Bermuda Bay card base. (Or, optionally adhere Basic Black layer to DSP layer, and then to Basic Black card base.)
  9. *I swiped a Bermuda Bay ink pad across the Pool Party ink at the top of the water before stamping, and a Crumb Cake ink pad across the Sahara Sand ink at the top of the sand before stamping, to just add a bit more depth of colour. This is optional.

Thank you very much for visiting my blog!! 😊

It doesn't show here, but the frame is actually silver foil.

The penguin is stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock. Next, I masked the snow and moon, and applied ink to the background with Blending Brushes.

Yay! You can see the silver foil frame and the
sparkling rhinestone in this photo!

I stamped the sentiment, cut a circle out of the Basic White Cardstock, and then dry embossed it with the snow pattern from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders set.
