Simply Succulents - Berry Delightful Card

Welcome to the January edition of our West Coast Creators Blog Hop!! January seems to be a time that needs a little brightening up (although our weather today is fabulous, so I decided to do a cheery card using the Simply Succulents Bundle.  I haven't had time to play with it much, but I really wanted to use the gorgeous, delicate background die. Doesn't the die make a stunning background?

I mounted the lacy diecut onto a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. I cut a 1 1/2" strip of Blushing Bride cardstock, and cut each of the long edges with the eyelet die from Ornate Borders Dies. I love the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper (DSP), so I thought I would use it, too. I adhered a 1" strip of the Berry Delightful DSP onto the pink strip, and glued that to the diecut layer. I wrapped it twice with the pink twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack, and tied it into a bow. The sentiment--which was stamped in Garden Green--and diecut are both from the Simply Succulents Bundle. I want to add some Pastel Pearls--and will, as soon as they arrive!

Did you know that you can get this DSP--with the wonderful Berry Blessings stamp set for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration?? This bundle coordinates well with our Sweet Strawberry Bundle (the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Strawberry Builder Punch), which is also in our new January to June Mini Catalogue.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I hope that you will leave a comment before you visit the other stops on the blog hop. We have some really talented designers in this group, so be sure to check out their creations!

A Touch of Ink Thank You Card

Happy New Year to all of you!! Let's all hope that 2021 brings better times to our world! It is time again for Kylie Bertucci's Monthly International Blog Highlights contest--the first of the new year! I would like to ask for your vote again, please! If you like my card, please click on the link below, and vote for me by clicking on the top right corner of the thumbnail of my card (which is card #13), until you see the heart turn red

Starting tomorrow (January 5th) Stampin' Up! has a new January - June Mini Catalogue that goes live!! It is full of wonderful new products! The card above is made from one of our Sale-a-Bration products that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying purchase. I used our brand-new Blending Brushes (these are amazing!!) to do the background. These brushes blend beautifully! I started in the centre with a circle of Balmy Blue, then added colours around this, getting darker each time towards the outer edge of the card--Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point, and I finished with Misty Moonlight.

I masked the hummingbird, flowers, and leaves by stamping on a Post-It Note, then cutting it and covering the stamped image (which I stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock). I kept adding layers of colour until I was happy with the results. Then I peeled off the sticky notes, and coloured the flowers with Magenta Madness Stampin' Blends, and the leaves with Granny Apple Stampin' Blends.

I painted the hummingbird with a Water Painter, picking up colour from the lids of my ink pads. I used Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Granny Apple Green. Once completed, I stamped the sentiment with Memento ink and then adhered the card front to a Magenta Madness layer. I cut an 8" length of our 3/8" Reversible Ribbon (using the Old Olive side), tied it in a knot twice around a Stampin' Spritzer, slid it off the tube, cut the loop diagonally, wrapped the ribbon around the card and taped it to the back. The card front was adhered to a Pacific Point card base, and I added three clear Elegant Faceted Gems to complete the card.

I used the same technique on this card, but instead of applying the colours in circles, getting darker as I blended away from the centre, I started with the lightest ink at the bottom, and added darker inks with the Blending Brush as I went up the paper. I used the Pretty Peacock side of the ribbon this time. I added three light blue Holiday Rhinestones for a bit of bling.
